Abstract
This sixth edition expands and revises specifications for the main compounds used in controlling insects and molluscs of public health importance. For each, specifications state the required chemical and physical properties and the recommended analytical methods to be used when testing or inspecting for compliance. Analytical methods have been revised to incorporate the greater reliability of such advanced techniques as gas-liquid chromatography and high-performance liquid chromatography. These methods will be of value for agricultural users as well as for manufacturers and public health clinical laboratories. Also featured are specifications for packing and labelling, including precautions to be followed by those handling or using the compounds. WHO specifications facilitate and encourage the purchase of pesticides of good quality that are both effective against susceptible vectors of diseases or intermediate hosts and acceptable from the point of view of safe useCitation
